Continua quindi la corsa di ISON verso l’incontro ravvicinato con il Sole e grazie al notevole incremento di luminosità avvenuto in questi giorni, praticamente da un momento all’altro, ISON sta entrando ora nelle condizioni di poter essere vista anche ad occhio nudo. Osservatori da tutto il mondo riportano tali informazioni e continuano a tenerla d’occhio, specie al mattino presto, attraverso anche piccoli telescopi che rivelano ovviamente molto di più della famosa Cometa.
Si fa fatica a credere che la Cometa della splendida foto qui sopra scattata da Damian Peach sia la stessa ripresa solo qualche giorno prima, dichiara lo stesso fotografo. E’ indubbio che lo spettacolo sia già iniziato.
The abrupt brightening of Comet ISON on Nov. 14th has pushed the comet into the range of naked eye visibility. Dark-sky observers around the world report seeing it with their unaided eyes on the morning of Nov. 15th. To the human eye, ISON is just a faint smudge of magnitude +5.5. Backyard telescopes are revealing much more.
The effects of the outburst have propagated into the comet’s suddenly riotous tail, as shown in this image taken on the morning of Nov. 15th by Damian Peach. “It’s hard to believe this is the same comet I photographed on Nov. 10th,” says Peach. “Now that ISON has experienced an outburst, the show has really begun.”
