“La Cometa Lemmon ha una bellissima coda e un’altrettanto bellissima struttura”, dice Phil Hart, il fotografo che ha immortalato l’astro in questa foto, lo scorso 17 Febbraio, nei pressi del Lago Eppalock, Vittoria (Australia). La cometa è ora leggermente più vicina al Sole rispetto alla Terra è il calore solare l’ha trasformata in un oggetto binoculare (magnitudo 5,5-6) appena visibile ad occhio umano, ma abbagliante attraverso l’obiettivo di telescopi amatoriali, così come mostra la foto di Hart, qui sopra.
“Comet Lemmon has a beautiful tail with lovely fine structure,” says Phil Hart of Lake Eppalock, Victoria, Australia, who photographed it on Feb. 17th. The comet is now slightly closer to the sun than Earth. Solar heating has turned it into a binocular object (magnitude +5.5 to +6) barely visible to the human eye, but dazzling through backyard telescopes, as shown in Hart’s photo above.
