Questa grande “V” che sembra volare nel buio cosmico è in realtà costituita da due oggetti distinti, una coppia di galassie interagenti nota come IC 2184.
Entrambe le galassie sono viste quasi di taglio nella grande costellazione settentrionale della Giraffa, e possono restituire questo effetto visivo come strisce luminose di luce circondate dalle forme spettrali delle loro lunghe code.
This large “flying V” is actually two distinct objects—a pair of interacting galaxies known as IC 2184.
Both the galaxies are seen almost edge-on in the large, faint northern constellation of Camelopardalis (The Giraffe), and can be seen as bright streaks of light surrounded by the ghostly shapes of their tidal tails.
