Un team di scienziati impegnati nella missione Rosetta (RPC) ha scoperto una misteriosa “canzone” che la cometa 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko canta nello spazio. La cometa sembra emettere una “canzone” attraverso le oscillazioni del campo magnetico nell’area della stessa cometa.
Viene cantata a 40-50 milliHertz, molto al di sotto della percezione dell’orecchio umano, capace invece di sentire di solito il suono tra 20 Hz e 20 kHz. Rosetta’s Plasma Consortium (RPC) has uncovered a mysterious ‘song’ that Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko is singing into space. The comet seems to be emitting a ‘song’ in the form of oscillations in the magnetic field in the comet’s environment.
It is being sung at 40-50 millihertz, far below human hearing, which typically picks up sound between 20 Hz and 20 kHz.
