G2 (Moderate) geomagnetic storming is ongoing now as a result of the coronal mass ejection (CME) arrival associated with the August 31st filament eruption. Continued geomagnetic storming is expected in the near term as the CME continues to affect Earth. Solar radiation storm levels continue to hover near the S1 (Minor) event threshold but should continue their slow decline toward background levels. Stay tuned for updates.

Come previsto, a seguito dell’esplosione di massa coronale dal sole (CME), avvenuta il 31 agosto scorso, oggi la nuvola di plasma ha impattato la magnetosfera terrestre generando una tempesta solare geomagnetica di classe G2 (moderata), tutt’ora in atto. 2012-09-05 03:42 UTC Continued Geomagnetic Storming
Geomagnetic storming reaching the G2 (Moderate) level continues at this time. The suspected driver is one of two coronal mass ejections observed on September 2. Additionally, solar radiation storm levels have largely returned to background levels, and although there are several sunspot groups on the visible disk, the risk for severe space weather remains relatively low at this time. 5 Settembre 2012 – Tempesta solare geomagnetica ancora in atto
Il livello della tempesta solare geomagnetica continua ad attestarsi su G2 (moderata), ed è il risultato dell’impatto di una delle due espulsioni di massa coronale (CME) avvenuta il 2 Settembre. Nel frattempo il livello della tempesta di radiazioni è tornato basso, mentre si registra l’affacciarsi della regione solare AR1564, verso la Terra, ed il suo rapido accrescimento, la cui attività potrebbe predisporre solar flares di classe M.
