Il campo magnetico interplanetario (IMF) in prossimità del nostro pianeta puntato a sud, ha creato l’apertura di una crepa nella magnetosfera terrestre. Il fluire di vento solare ha alimentato la più forte tempesta magnetica da settembre del 2014. Gli analisti del NOAA ritengono che la fluttuazione del campo magnetico interplanetario sia legata all’arrivo di una CME che originariamente si pensava potesse mancare la Terra.

The interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) near our planet tipped south, opening a crack in Earth’s magnetosphere. Solar wind poured in to fuel the strongest magnetic storm since Sept. 2014. NOAA analysts believe the fluctuation in IMF is related to the arrival of a CME originally expected to miss Earth.
